Foto 28.591 - Geëvacueerd door de Engelsen : inwoners van Veltum bij Venray. Zij werden naar Kamp Vreekwijk in Deurne gebracht, onderzocht en ontluisd. Daarna verdeeld, een gedeelte naar het Schooteind in Bakel, naar Lierop en Gemert. Vlnr. Een Nederlandse militaire arts met knijpkat, grootmoeder Barends, Gradje Hermsen, baby en moeder Nel Hermsen-Barends.

• General: DUTCH EVACUEES FROM THE BATTLE AREAS. Holland, in common with all the War-torn countries of Europe, is now faced with the problem of finding homes for the thousands of unfortunates who have lost everything in the battle areas. The British Army is rendering assistance by providing transport, Officers and men, supplemented by Dutch workers, to convey the homeless to a Transit Camp in the Deurne Area. (Venray). Here they are medically examined by Dutch Army Doctors, registered given a light meal and are then taken to a village behind the line where arrangements have been previously made to billet them.
